The only honest answer is we do not know if yahoo answers will be shut down.

We are just users here and have no idea what yahoo is going to do with the site.

The site is being very neglected and has become a cesspool so can't see anyone buying it if they are trying to sell it.

We don't know and possibly even Yahoo doesn't know at this time, it is like they are unaware of the mess and what it has become.

Even if it is going to be closed they won't likely tell us as it is a free site and has been made very clear we do not matter at all.

It might be better if they did shut down instead of letting it become a worse cesspool than what it is. They should be ashamed.

No one really knows and the rumors could be fact or just rumors.

If you see people say that it will close soon then they are full of Sh!t. Yahoo would mention it in Tumblr what products will shut down. So far I've seen Yahoo Games, Yahoo LiveText, Yahoo Regional Media Properties, and Yahoo BOSS that will be shutting down for the Q1 2016 Progress Report on their product prioritization. This rumor has been going on for 10 years. Its nothing new really. Its usually the haters of this site that would do anything to make others believe that Answers will close. Plus the ads bring in the money.

Here is the Q1 2016 Progress report: https://yahoo.tumblr.com/

Just scroll down until you see it.

Well they no longer notify you if you have a best answer and it seems like they are not monitoring reports about questions (of course that always seemed to be hit and miss) so unless something happens in the next while I can see it being shut down in the next while.

    by Fall '16.

why: YA's part of Yahoo's web biz that's losing $billions hand over fist,

and must be sold asap b4 it's totally worthless.

YA itself has been singled out by analysts for closure by Yahoo, or Yahoo's buyer this Fall.

I do not think Yahoo will close. And frankly, if that were to happen, it would be something sudden, I do not think we were going to know that in a previous way, it would be kind ... Boom ... off the air ... with no warnings or something like that.

Only who knows parkour, like these guys, would survive!!!

Soon, I hope. And it's utterly worthless. It's become a cesspool of racism, commercial advertisements, and homework cheating, and Yahoo doesn't want to spend the money to try to police it.

Anyway, ALL of Yahoo is going down the tubes.

Google had an "Answers" but they shut theirs down too for the same reasons. Now, I suppose, all the trolls will head over to Quora or something.

It's not closing for at least 5 more years. It does not matter what the site becomes. Ads are there and many still enjoy and that's all that really matters

It is not ending. There is a rumor going around that is false.
