# Complete a two column proof to show that CAE = 55 degrees?

AB is parallel to DE. The angles ABC = 25 degrees , AEC = 40 degrees and EDC = 60 degrees.

Columns are Statement and Justification.

There is one triangle, A at the top, B on the left end and E on the right end. Then there is a line cutting through the middle of that triangle starting from A and the line is now outside of the triangle and that tip of the line is C and between where the line passes through to the outside of the triangle is D and the line continues from D and connects that end with E.

Sorry, I meant the tip of the line is D and between where the line passes through to the outside of the triangle is C and the line continues from D and connects with E.

Angle BCD = 85 (60+25 - exterior angle)

And, Angle ACE = 85 (vertically opposite to BCD)

Therefore, Angle CAE = 55 (Angle sum Triangle = 180 - (180-85-40 = 55))
