Could someone answer a physics question on the colors I see in the ocean?

Looking at the ocean, there are 2 separate bands of aqua marine running along.

Closest to shore it's almost slate blue,

then aqua marine, then darker, then

another aqua marine, then deep, royal blue out further.

What causes the beautiful aqua marine color?

Anyone know?

There are a number of factors. The water acts somewhat as a prism depending upon angle of the sun and viewing angle, shallow water may have light reflected off of whatever is on the bottom, or not in deep water. And there may be plankton or algae in the water.

In the Florida Keys there is a very noticeable difference between the blue water on the Gulf of Mexico side and the green water coming down the Atlantic Ocean side, mixing in the middle.
