In france, school children have a 3 course lunch with cheese service. In your country, school lunches consist of what?

And that's the free lunch.

Garbage. Like cheap pizza, fries, chicken nuggets.

Cheap, unhealthy, greasy food, like fast food, and pretty nutritionally void fruit or vegetable options when they're there, like canned veggies or super sugary canned fruit.

Sometimes I've seen fresh fruit available.

I packed my lunch after middle school, the food was too nasty, then I went vegetarian, which was also a great idea.

In K-6 it was pretty much just what you might consider a TV dinner. There were no courses. There was cooking involved so it wasn't just microwaving things, but there was pretty much only one thing each day. My favorite was mashed potatoes with ground beef and gravy. My least favorite was the pizza. That soggy crust and rancid flavor scarred me for life.

There's no such thing as a free lunch.

I guess your children deserve some compensation for being French

Where I live (Australia) there is no free lunch at school. You pay for your child to buy lunch at the school canteen or you pack one for them. I pack one for my kid.
