You don't know that it is favoritism. You are just guessing. Right? You did not mention any managerial credentials? Have you graduated from a business management course? A B.A. and sales experience does not qualify you as a manager. Unless it a place like McDonalds or a small, privately owned business - used goods, one that does not make a whole lot of money and does not pay much. Otherwise, you are not likely to just step into a management position. You don't know this new employee very well, do you? She might have managerial experience and/or managerial credentials. She might have been at the top of the class which would put her above everybody else. I know a case where someone without any experience but with credentials and near the top the class, was hired to supervise numerous employees who were there for 20 years and they held serious resentment. If you want the position of a manager, get the credentials that earn you the position. Otherwise, you are causing your own grief when you are passed over for the position.
