If Trump abandoned racism, gave up his corruption, and started acting in the best interest of the country then liberals would warm to him. Liberal opposition to Trump has always been motivated by his political stances and personal qualities such as his racism, corruption, and general incompetence. Hatred of trump has not been based in partisanship.

If he suddenly became a smart, caring, truthful, unifying leader looking out for the people instead of the moneyed interests, the environment instead of the moneyed interests, the needy instead of the moneyed interests, the deficit instead of the moneyed interests, I could forgive his peccadilloes, bragging, and past indiscretions. Even though most of his policies are serving the moneyed interests at the expense of everyone else, some are not - Chiefly trade, immigration, and peace with friends and foes. But his policies there aren't serving the people either - they are only serving himself and his base without regard to probable or actual results.

If Trump made a full confession and resigned the presidency I'd consider reevaluating my opinion of him.

I don't want open borders and don't know any liberals who do, so that's not one of my issues.
