    The only time I see Mexicans taking pride in their country is when they're not living there.

    They're dying to leave Mexico, they throw a fit when Trump builds a wall and deports illegal immigrants but they're so proud of being Mexican.

    Mexico has been both a Spanish and a French colony and most citizens there are happy to live in the richest country in Latin America. Mexico's GDP is higher than that of a lot of European nations and is only slightly smaller than Canada's. This perception of Mexico as a "poor" country has to do with wealth disparity, not that wealth doesn't exist there. The Mexican elite includes some of the world's richest people.
