it is actually closer to an ellipsoid.

It's an oblate spheroid, longer around the equator than the poles due to rotation around its axis.

So it can travel around the sun better.☺

Gravity pulls stuff into the most compact shape

    for a given volume.

    That shape is a sphere.

Only bodies that are small enough

    to have weak gravity,

    are lumpy,

    instead of spherical.

    For example,

    I am small and lumpy.

The earth is a sphere because of gravity. The earth has enough mass, hence gravity, to compact itself into the shape that contains the least area.

God made STABLE, I'm moving, just like it seems.

Sun travels EVERY day in a circle, moon follows.

There are 4 corners also, which occurs in the bible.

Spheroids are common in space because a sphere has the most efficient volume to surface area ratio.
