    Judging by the sparse information that the Bible presents

    anti-Roman-occupation (i.e. pro-independent Israel)

    but also tolerant of the occupation.

    For his time he was liberal (radical, even), but by today's standards I'd say he was moderately conservative.

    Definitely left-leaning, very people and welfare oriented. Though he obviously had no actual poltical affiliation, especially within today's parties.
