is Canada a poor country?

the reason i ask is because a middle class income can't afford you a house anymore in Vancouver.

NO. In Canada we classify poor on their ability to afford the basic necessities. Food, water, shelter, basic education, heat and electricity, basic health.

We don't care if you own a house or not, just as long as you have shelter. Many people who live in Vancouver don't want to buy a home these days. And if they want to buy a home bad enough but can't afford one in Vancouver they can always move to someplace where they can afford a house.

No, we are rather well off on average. There are poor people and rich people and rich people like to live in BC.

No. It's just an inflated real estate market. I grew up in Washington state, near the US Canadian border and I recall back in 2008, even an old dilapidated house (1100 square feet and built in the early 1970s) like this one would cost at least 400,000 dollars.

    • London in the UK is currently the most expensive city to live in. Brisbane Australia is second, then Canberra Australia.

Maybe the price of housing is to high or the wages are to low or some of both. But I do not believe that Canada is considered to be a poor country.

By global standards, everyone living in Canada is filthy stinking rich. Even the terminally unemployed.

Living in big trendy cities is always expensive. Living under a socialist government is always expensive. Vancouver is both, so what do you expect.

    Same in London and Dublin.

A Middle Class income wouldn't get you a mortgage for a one bedroom flat in a tower block.

Doesn't make England a Poor Country (Eire if Bankrupt that's why it needs the EU)
