What's the best way to pit cherries without a cherry pitting tool?

But I still want to order one - what cherry pitter would you recommend?

I used to use a large paper clip. its time consuming but works great.

I used to can cherries all the time. Its going to be time consuming, no matter what but if you like to can or freeze pitted cherries, and have a tree or a great source of them, its worth the time

I recommend using a metal or plastic straw, or a chopstick- balance them in a cup and press the cherry down over it. This should remove the pit by punching a hole through it.

you can use a cake decorating tip-if you have one....I just bought an AmyTalk cherry pitter on amazon--it pits 6 at a time...they have a really fancy one for 200 bucks!
