Why are you asking such a gimbly question? Atheism hasn't killed anyone.

Are you trying to say that guns haven't killed anyone? OK. People have USED guns to kill people.

No one has used atheism to kill people.

Question: Atheist regimes in the 20th century killed tens of millions of people. Doesn’t this show that we were better off in the past, when our political and moral systems were guided by a belief in God?

Answer: This is a popular argument among theoconservatives and critics of the new atheism, but for many reasons it is historically inaccurate.

First, the premise that Nazism and Communism were “atheist” ideologies makes sense only within a religiocentric worldview that divides political systems into those that are based on Judaeo-Christian ideology and those that are not. In fact, 20th-century totalitarian movements were no more defined by a rejection of Judaeo-Christianity than they were defined by a rejection of astrology, alchemy, Confucianism, Scientology, or any of hundreds of other belief systems. They were based on the ideas of Hitler and Marx, not David Hume and Bertrand Russell, and the horrors they inflicted are no more a vindication of Judeao-Christianity than they are of astrology or alchemy or Scientology.

Second, Nazism and Fascism were not atheistic in the first place. Hitler thought he was carrying out a divine plan. Nazism received extensive support from many German churches, and no opposition from the Vatican. Fascism happily coexisted with Catholicism in Spain, Italy, Portugal, and Croatia. See p. 677 for discussion and references.

Third, according to the most recent compendium of history’s worst atrocities, Matthew White's Great Big Book of Horrible Things (Norton, 2011), religions have been responsible for 13 of the 100 worst mass killings in history, resulting in 47 million deaths. Communism has been responsible for 6 mass killings and 67 million deaths. If defenders of religion want to crow, “We were only responsible for 47 million murders—Communism was worse!”, they are welcome to do so, but it is not an impressive argument.

Fourth, many religious massacres took place in centuries in which the world’s population was far smaller. Crusaders, for example, killed 1 million people in world of 400 million, for a genocide rate that exceeds that of the Nazi Holocaust. The death toll from the Thirty Years War was proportionally double that of World War I and in the range of World War II in Europe (p. 142).

When it comes to the history of violence, the significant distinction is not one between thesistic and atheistic regimes. It’s the one between regimes that were based on demonizing, utopian ideologies (including Marxism, Nazism, and militant religions) and secular liberal democracies that are based on the ideal of human rights. On pp. 337–338 I present data from Rummel showing that democracies are vastly less murderous than alternatives forms of government.

    False, of course.

No its a leading question showing the mindset of your work promotions. The person asking it is probably a PhD or CEO or maybe even a minister in a church. Might even be Donald Trump himself. Its the type of person you love and pay.

If atheism is, as atheists say, a lack of belief in God, then it kills a lot more:

    Revelation 21:8

New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures (Study Edition)

8 But as for the cowards and THOSE WITHOUT FAITH and those who are disgusting in their filth and murderers and the sexually immoral and those practicing spiritism and idolaters and all the liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. This means the second death.”

    (my CAPS)

During Ezekiel's time some faithless elders of Israel began to sacrifice to idols and they were saying "Jehovah is not seeing us. Jehovah has left the land." Ezekiel 8:7-12

God showed these things to Ezekiel because he was angry at their lies and their refusal to acknowledge his ability to see all things.

Today there are idols that people worship too- that take a lot of time and effort away from developing a relationship with their Creator. In religion, many use idols and symbols in their worship, making people forget who the true God really is.

And there are other idols - money, materialism, human philosophies, sex, entertainment, anything that could take first place in our lives. None of these things can bring lasting happiness, and they can distract people from searching for and finding the true God, learning his will, and obeying him.

    Jesus said:

"23 Nevertheless, the hour is coming, and it is now, when the true worshippers will worship the Father with spirit and truth, for indeed, the Father is looking for ones like these to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit, and those worshipping him must worship with spirit and truth.”

    John 4:23, 24

New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures (Study Edition)

If a person is walking down a dangerous road and refuses to believe that what he/she is dangerous, is that a wise thing to do? We have thousands of years of human history that are fraught with deaths and atrocities that are the result of ignoring the wisdom of our Creator.

Guns have been around for only about 300 years. But yes, refusing to take advantage of the far-seeing wisdom of God can and has killed billions of people, just as it killed thousands in Ezekiel's time. --

    Ezekiel 18:32

32 “‘I do not take any pleasure in the death of anyone,’ declares the Sovereign Lord Jehovah. ‘So turn back and live.’”

False. Atheists have killed people, certainly, but theists have waged religious wars and the usual reason mass killings have been carried out by atheists the fact of their atheism is irrelevant.

Not really. People who do not believe in God and who kill others do it out of greed of land,or money,or power, which have become their god. None of those things can add a bit to their life span, because others of the same mindset will try to shorten their life to get those things from them.

False. Atheism has killed no one. No group is killing in the name of atheism.

For those who have been fed lies all their lives, atheism does not equal communism.

Christians usually attribute the actions of communism (Stalin, Mao, Khmer, etc) as done in the name of atheism. There have also been a few murders who identified strongly as atheists. Even if you accept these dubious claims, the 1000/1 estimate is still likely low.
