My blood pressure is 140/60. Is it high?
- EdnaLv 74 weeks ago
"Normal" blood pressure is 120/80. Your blood pressure is 140/60. A blood pressure reading of 140 and above is considered to be high blood pressure (hypertension). You need to see a doctor about medication to lower your blood pressure.

140 over anything is high. What's more abnormal is your pulse pressure. Pulse pressure is the difference between the your systolic pressure (the top number of 140) & your diastolic pressure (the bottom number of 60). Normal is around 40 & yours is 80. A real wide pulse pressure can indicate a few things, including but not limited to an inaccurate reading. Had you just finished exercising when that BP was taken?

Its borderline BUT we never treat a BP based on one random reading. You need a cluster, they would start life style modifications first.
