Why is my precious rocket-ship drifting off into deep space?!?

    Your rocket ship would have to leave Earth's atmosphere (300miles) and then be farther out like 238,900 mi which is where the moon is (as it is kept orbiting around the earth because of earth's gravitational pull.  So it has to be fueled to go even farther to hit 0 gravitational pull...before "drift" could occur.  So you need a BFR rocket, not a model.
