Largely because the economic policies of the left encourage income generation and the policies of the right encourage keeping the poor poorer.

Because most of the big cities are in blue states and people in big cities tend to vote for democrats.

Can you imagine how ignorant people would have to be in order for California with rich soil, hundreds of miles of Ocean shore line, mineral rich mountains, beaches, perfect natural ports, redwood forest and more would have to be to be less able to harvest resources than the people in the desolate lands of Utah or the grasslands of Kansas. Yet they nearly pull it off and then they use the small differential for 12x higher rent prices and an inflated tax burden as they dance between piles of sh!t and heroin needles left on their sidewalks.

Because fascism does not work. Making the rich richer and the poor poorer does not help the general economy of a state or a country. Most consumer spending are done by the poor and middle class. Think about it, if only the 1% can afford to eat at McDonald's, how many McDonald's can the country support. If you give a million dollars to the rich, how many hamburgers will he/she buy? A few may be. But if you give the same amount of money to 50,000 people ($20 per person), they will buy a lot more hamburgers than the single rich person and make the economy boom. That is why it is a good idea to have a strong and thriving middle class, instead of giving more and more to the richest of the rich.

When the state government takes away most of your money what are you left with? LOL

    That should be the question..........LOL

Update to commentator: GDP is a function of population as much as anything else. With California having the most people why wouldn't it have a higher GDP? I swear Dims are getting dumber by the day......LOL

Again you fail to grasp the essence of my comment. What does the District of Columbia produce with its highest GDP? LOL
