What legal obligation does a company have towards ensuring the safety of its customers who are on premises (UK)?

    Their "answer" when I complained was to state that they'd put up a sign (which they had but at a level that is blocked when you push the door, rather than it being at eye level. Also, they were aware there was a hazard but had not taken steps to reduce that hazard ) and so that is the end of the matter as far as they are concerned. They won't even give me the name of their legal team, to whom I can complain, they've said the matter is closed as far as they are concerned.

    If they know there is a safety hazard they must fix it.
