Physics question #2?

A gust of wind blows an apple from a tree.

As the apple falls, the force of gravity on the apple is 9.16 N downward, and the force of

the wind on the apple is 1.42 N to the right.

What is the magnitude of the net external

force on the apple?

    As gravity and the wind are presumably acting at 90° to each other.

    F = √(9.16² + 1.42²)

    F = 9.2694...

    F = 9.27 N

    I hope this helps.
