Does anyone have experience playing saxophone ?

I want to be in marching band next year but I only have about 5 and a half months to learn how to play. I have experience with other instruments so I know how to read notes but I’ve never played brass. If I practice about an hour a day should I be atleast decent?

"I’ve never played brass."  The brass family includes trumpet, trombone, French horn, and others, but not saxophones, which are single-reed woodwinds.

Saxophone is physically the easiest instrument, but the fingering is a little complex and you really must get professional guidance for embouchure and tonguing, as well as reed preparation, mounting, and maintenance.  It's critical to get a proper start on these aspects, otherwise you'll have early struggles, and then have to unlearn your errors.
