Can we take a 17 years old on a trip with us?
Going to San Fran with friends in a couple of months. We’re all 18 except this one friend who’s 17. We’re going to stay at a hotel. His parents are cool so we ain’t sneaking him away but will we get in trouble still for traveling with a minor or something?

If you're not leaving the country, then there are no issues with a minor traveling with friends, and especially since he has his parents' permission. This happens a lot. When you check in to a hotel, only the person whose name is on the reservation has to be old enough and has to show ID. I would make sure that you've identified a place to stay that will allow you to check in at 18 though. Many hotels in the major cities require that you be 21 or older.
