initial orbital changes combined with outgasssing of CO2 from warming oceans. Climate does not care if CO2 is from natural or man made sources.

There was none DURING the Ice ages. Between them, there was warming, much slower than today's problem.

As I wasn't around back then and there's no written records as well, I'd guess that it was probably caused by the large amounts of dinosaur dung similar to that caused by cow flops today.
