Spaniards are Europeans who are the original Hispanics.

People today referred to as Latino or Hispanic are people descended mostly from the Spaniards & Native Amerindian populations in the Americas that speak either Spanish or Portuguese.

    See map--Europe. Europe-white people.

Hispanic- term for Spanish-speakers. Is not about race 'save in America.' Hispanics can be any race. However, Spaniards seldom call themselves Hispanic.

Latino- term for Latin-derived language speakers from Latin America, rarely Spain, who would, if they used any term, use 'Latin.'

They can be all three at once -

They are from the area the Romans called Hispania, although Hispani / Hispanio would be a bit more correct as Hispanic implies they don't have firm historic link to the original people.

They are Latino by literal definition. That's because they are not the original Roman Latini. Most people from Hispania didn't have a blood line link to Latium / Latina. The Julian family gave them Latin rights. Not all the Romans Gens (Families) agreed with it.

All Europeans are white by modern definition. However, Roman Latins used a different system for Race that didn't include skin color. And in fact, the current Roman theocracy (The Roman Catholic Church) still doesn't recognize race by skin color to this day.

Of course, I bet you're asking about some silly new American definition that includes Mezoamerica and Nova Hispania. And on that subject - The idea of "Latin America" is politically correct modern concept. It wasn't used during colonization, it has no historic value.

"Hispanic" and "Latino" are American terms referring to language origins of people in the Americas. Spanish people live in Spain which is in Europe so they are neither Hispanic nor Latino. The only country that seems to care about people's apparent skin colour is the USA and they have declared that all Europeans are "white" so Spaniards are "white".

By the way, the US government has stated that "Hispanic" and "Latino" are not races or skin colours so Hispanic and Latino people can be "white" or any other colour.
