Is a 30 amp switch sufficient for a trolling motor that pulls 30 amps max?

    It depeds upon ambient temperature and how long you stay under operation ; if you have a diversity factor < 1 , then it will work, otherwise you risk to damage your switch for overtemperature

    as long as the switch is rated to switch 30 amps DC motor load. But you will get better reliability if you get a 40 or 50 amp switch, again, rated to switch DC motor load.
