USA Today reports that California is trying to remove natural gas stoves from domestic use and replace ALL home cooking with electric.?
Don't these MORONS understand that MOST of their electricity comes from generating plants that burn either natural gas or coal? Eliminating natural gas from residential use is just moving the problem to a different location.

It is risky to push people to use electricity. When the grid goes down you have no power but the natural gas keeps flowing. So imagine an all electric home. How do you cook food? How do you heat water? How do you keep warm? At least with a gas stove and gas fire place you can do a few things with the power out.

Their plan is to cover Nevada and Arizona with solar farms and windmills. Of course, that doesn't solve the problem of power lines setting fires.

Even in CA they still use around 43% of power generated by Natural Gas. Part of the problem is the studies assume people will use efficient expensive induction cooktops rather than the very inefficient electric coil cooktops. In the grand scheme of things using natural gas for cooking and heating is an extremely efficient use of it. Regardless when called out on these statistics they say it's more about setting the building codes so houses built now will be "green" 50 years from now when they assume natural gas won't be the main source of power.

Friend I'm sure that the people in California understand that it takes fuel and natural gas to produce electricity. But that's simply not the problem here. Gas powered stoves are very frequently left dirty and greasy. And they're very frequently used in the production of drugs. They catch things on fire 9 times more then electric powered stoves. That's the reason California wants to get rid of gas powered stoves there's simply causing way too many fires. Joker's on dope cooking crystal meth and cocaine Rock. Certain groups that never clean their stove. And certain groups that use their stoves as sources of heating up the whole building in the winter time. It's just a fire hazard way more than if it was an electric stove. Which has a tendency to flip the breaker instantaneously if there is a problem. Gas stoves don't flip the breaker they just break into a furious blaze!

"California leads the nation in electricity generation from non-hydroelectric renewable energy sources, including geothermal power, wind power, and solar power."
Or did you think electricity could only be generated from fossil fuels?
