Can I write a check directly to Chase Bank to pay off my mom's credit card balance?

The reason I was asking because a year ago, when I made a payment, my CC bank sent me a letter to verify if I was an authorized user on that account. With my mom's CC, I'm not the authorized user but I suppose I can write the check to pay off or send in money order? Check is easier.

Yes you can, and do not have to be an authorized user. You could pay mine off if you wanted to ;)

You can pay off anyone's balance, thats not a problem.  How were you making that original payment though...were you paying down one credit card with another??  Why did your CC bank contact you?

    What is a CC bank?

Are you trying to make a bill pay or what?

It should be fine but you can't expect them to give you her account number. You may need to know it.

Call the number on the card and ask? There is not a set of universal rules.
