How about "The world has a dangerously rising rate of depression among smart people due to the number of dumb students who try to make up thesis statements without knowing jack sh*t about their subject or even having a specific research question."

What is the point you want to make about depression? You probably don't know if you haven't done any research. The thesis statement tells your topic AND the point you want to make about it. It shouldn't be something immediately obvious, like "depression is bad" or something that everyone pretty much knows by now, like "depression is a major problem among students." You need to find something most people don't know about, and possibly don't want to believe. Then you spend the rest of your paper supporting your point, and convincing your reader.

You can’t write a thesis statement unless you first take the time to LEARN about the topic. You can’t know yet what it is that you want to say, because you have done no research.

Find at least 3 academically-acceptable resources, do at least 3 hours of study, taking notes as you go.

    Then, try again.

This will not be all the research or resources that is needed, but it should be enough to give you a direction to get started.
