How to get rid of ciggarette smell in wooden spoon?

We got this wooden spoon from a very nice lady (that smokes a lot) and it reeks of ciggarettes. It looks like a really nice spoon and we would really prefer not to throw it out, but both of us aggree that the smell must go before we use it.

What amazing housewife-cleaning-tips can we use to get rid of the smell?

Cheers!

Place 2 tablespoonfuls of bicarbonate of soda into enough warm water to dissolve the powder then stand the spoon in this liquid overnight.

wash it. dishsoap is typically scented, and also removes a variety of hard to dissipate substances.

maybe soak it in soapy water overnight if it is very bad...

Carbon neutralises odours, so grind up some charcoal mix it into a watery paste and leave the spoon in it for a day, then wash it, let it dry and oil it.
