If the mass of a piece of space junk doubled, the motion would ____?

    Stay at the same pace, not accelerate nor would it slow down.

    Well, if it's in space, nothing would happen. It would just double the mass.

    There is no air in space, so the motion of the piece of space junk would not change and would continue in it's orbit around whatever object it's orbiting. 

    If it was in some sort of atmosphere(just for giggles) THEN it's motion would change. It would slow down a bit, but if it's entering the atmosphere it would slow down a LOT and probably burn away depending on how thick the atmosphere is. That's what happens to most meteorites that enter the Earth's atmosphere.

    not clear what else would happen at the same time.  you cannot just double mass. It has to be done somehow.  If you held momentum constant, then doubling mass would result in an object at half the velocity.  If you added that mass by colliding with an object that somehow was going at exactly the same velocity (which is impossible of course), then velocity would remain constant and momentum would double.

    So, you have to tell us what you actually want to know.  Motion could change but it would depend on how the mass got added.  The new mass has to have had some pre-addition motion to it, and you do not tell us what that would have been, but it must have been something even if 0.  You cannot discuss motion without considering motion of everything in the system.

    don't know, it depends on it's location and the gravity fields around it, as well as its previous trajectory.

    For example, if it were in orbit, nothing changes, mass is irrelevant. 

    if it were falling back to earth, motion depends on shape and air resistance, as well as mass.

    If it were falling into the sun, in vacuum, its course or speed would not change.

    In general, gravitational force would double, but as it's mass doubled, any change in velocity would be zero.

    It's only been a day but my nose has been bleeding alot! It was fine in the beginning but throughout the day today there has been alot of blood and as soon as I wipe it off more blood appears. Should I keep wiping it off or will that just cause problems in the long run? Is this normal? Thanks
