Among the causes of the prevalence of destitution and poverty.  is

The spread of greed. Stinginess. Bribery. The unemployment . The rich did not help his hungry and poor naked neighbor

Start walking down from the White House about a mile and witness for yourself skid row.  People living with card board as shelter.

This should tell you that USA; is not equal at all.  Highest economy, ok.  Yet still people starving and living under bridges in this country.  Now, explain that to me; if we are so big and bad in economy.

No country is going to not have some people who are poorer. Especially a country with such a huge population.

Because rightwingers pamper the rich, and pretend that poverty is necessary

The land of the free means everyone has an equal chance to get rich and poor. But mostly, the poor is relative, not absolute. The US poorest is still 10 times better than the middle class in Sudan.

There are low paying jobs in the US and other people are unemployed for a host of reasons (mental illness, substance use problems, etc). There is also a widening income/wealth gap in the US with the top 5% getting very rich while those below are only marginally improving and some falling farther behind. The trick any society faces, is how do you have strong economic development in a way that spreads economic prosperity across the economy to rich and poor alike? It seems no one has found a sustained way to accomplish that balance over time.

There are problems with the measurements used to evaluate a countries wealth and well-being. GDP is the accepted standard, but GDP merely looks at overall trade within a country, but does not parse out the reasons (ex: natural disasters are great for GDP because of all the money spent to rebuild; automation can improve GDP while companies lay off workers).
