A genius is a person with exceptional intellectual or creative ability. A virtuoso is someone highly skilled in music or some other art. The former uses his brain while the latter uses his hands. You can play Air on G-string to perfection and be called a virtuoso but still Bach is the genius behind that piece. Very few people can compose soul-scraping songs and play them to pull all the tears out from your eyes and be called both a genius and a virtuoso at the same time.

I would say that a virtuoso does the thing better than almost anyone.  A genius is able to do things that no one even thinks can be done or that are a thing.  Geniuses see things that no one else ever did before.  A virtuoso has perfected what is already known.
