On turbine and turbo-prop engined aircraft what percentage of throttle do they normally run at during cruise mode?

    C-130s usually run around 98% all the time. Speed is controlled by the Prop condition levers.

    Too many variables. How do you determine percentage of "throttle" on a turbine engine that doesn't even have a throttle? Are you going by the angle of the power lever, or EGT setting, or fuel flow, or N-1 RPM or N-2 RPM?, or EPR or what? One commuter jet that we operated for a while, cruised at 97% to 98% of TO power. Needless to say, it was on the ground waiting for engine changes most of the time. Some of the most efficient, high bypass engines will cruise at around 50%. That's still NOT "percentage of throttle", but power settings, or RPM, or EPR.

    This depends on many factors and it is not an exact science; you want an absolute answer but the world is full of variables so the answers given are only very approximate and actually of little to no value.

    They would probably take off near full throttle and cruise at about half throttle, leaving power in reserve for climbing or higher speeds if necessary. Half throttle cruising will use a lot less fuel than full-throttle maximum speed over the same distance. If the aircraft has two engines then half throttle cruise (both engines) would allow a safety margin to continue flying at 80% on one engine in an emergency if the second engine failed.
