HIV positive means that you have been exposed to the virus, and have been infected by it .. this will show up on a blood test.

Being HIV positive used to mean that it was very likely that you would go on to develope AIDS .. but these days there is medication available.

The medication WON'T cure the HIV infection but it will stop it developing into AIDS.

HIV negative means that there is no virus present in your blood .. and so, you are not infected.
