you follow the rules.....int of { d(u v) = u dv + v du } leads to int of { u dv } = u v - int of { v du }.....ex :

integrate x sin x....YOU need to choose functions u and v so that u dv ≡ x sin x dx...choices are u = x & dv = sin x dx OR

u = sin x , dv = x dx...I generally choose u to be the given polynomial...u = x ===> du = dx & dv = sin x dx ===> v = - cos x........u v - v du = -x cos x - int { ( - cos x ) dx } = - x cos x + sin x
