I'll tell you why, and I'm a native Californian.

Because California is way too expensive.

Sure, there are great coastal towns in California.

    Monterey, Santa Barbara, Sausalito.

But you also got to have way too much money to even live there.

As is the case for the majority of California.

A condo by the beach starts at 1 million.

Extreme income inequality is California's middle name.

Gas prices are close to $4 when other states are close to $2.

    Rent prices are ridiculous.

Bay Area rents are higher than most people's salaries in other states.

And they're higher than most people's salaries in the Bay Area.

Which may be one reason why there is so much crime in the Bay.

Smash and grab is so prevalent.

But let's not forget Los Angeles.

    What a mess that is.

Traffic, smog, live in your car all day.

    And ghettos everywhere.

    Corporate America controls everything.

Crime, poverty, a third world country.

And we haven't even gotten to Riverside or Orange County.

Way too hot, way too much traffic and smog, or super superficial.

    Central Valley California?

    That's not a desirable place.

    Bakersfield, Fresno, Stockton.

Sure, there's agriculture, but along with it comes gangs.

    Crime, homicides, illegal immigration.

Why are there so many homicides in Salinas?

    For such a small population.

    Then there's San Diego.

    The treasure by the water.

    One of California's best cities.

Some of the warmest weather in the whole country.

But still way too expensive for anyone to live.

    Traffic problems and congestion.

And they just keep building more and more homes.

Nevertheless, California is a beautiful state with a lot to offer.

There are tons of things to do.

You can go to the beach, skiing in the mountains, or hang out in the desert.

The weather is mild all year round and never that cold.

If you want to go to Mexico or Las Vegas it's close by.

You just got to deal with the problems that come with California.

California is run by maniacs but there are other equally poorly managed states. This is just the biggest and the loudest.

I live in California now and love it here. It’s the most beautiful state and has something for everyone.

The worst state that I've had the misfortune of living in was Oklahoma. I don't understand why on earth would anyone live there, but people do.

Midterms: Poorest states have Republican legislatures, and richest have Democratic ones

Eighteen of the 19 poorest states have legislatures where both chambers are Republican controlled. New Mexico (46th richest, fifth poorest) is Democratic. But there isn’t another blue or purple state until you get to purple Maine (31st richest, 20th poorest) with its “split” legislature of one party in each chamber. All the states in between (such as Tennessee and Florida) are Republican, both chambers. So is Michigan, where Republicans hold all high state offices (where Donald Trump won in 2016). Above New Mexico, you jump all the way to middle of the pack Vermont (27th richest, 24th poorest) to find a state with both legislative chambers held by Democrats.

Republicans turn their states into hellholes.

It’s a progressive clown show. They elect far left fools, at all levels of government.

California has the most jobs. The supposedly high level of homelessness is because workers want to live there, because it where the jobs are; there are actually more homes there than in any other state.

Some persons in the United States are just envious of what we have in California as Stephen detailed for you. There are pros and cons just like the other states mentioned and yes I'm from southern California.

Yes, no where as prosperous as Mississippi or Alabama. Only has the 5th largest economy in THE WORLD!! MS and AL can beat that, I'm sure.
