does a medical bill count as supporting medical documentation of a doctor visit and treatment?

My insurance recently asked for proof of treatment for an injury i had related to an auto accident, all i have is the copy of the bills that the doctor's office charged the insurance for the dates i visited. would i be able to use the documents as proof?

That may or may not be acceptable to your specific insurance company. Each one sets their own criteria. You should be able to request a copy of your records from your healthcare provider, though ...unless this occurred a very long time ago (7+ years) and the records are no longer available.
