Even people with families feel lonely because you're basically trapped in your house from Christmas eve through to new year.  Everywheres is closed, you're either off work or school, all your friends are busy with their families, there's so much awful things on TV like Mary Poppins and the sound of music. It's basically hell.

But so few people have that in real life. Family and loved ones are like Santa Claus, their a childhood myth.

It's very common for many people to have no friends or family to spend Christmas with. So many people in the U.S. move away from their place of birth, only to find that they have no one to spend the holidays with.
