I don't understand why people have a hard time understanding what's happening.

Basically, Microsoft ended extended support for Windows 7 on the 14th of January. They will still support paying enterprise customers for a while longer, but regular computer users will not get any more official updates or support from Microsoft. This means that if in the future someone (or a group of people) find a massive security problem with Windows 7, MS will not help you nor will they fix it.

This does NOT mean that W7 will shut down or stop working. You can keep using it for as long as you'd like, but again, you just won't have support from MS anymore. Your programs will continue to work fine. However, as time goes on, software will eventually be updated to not work on older versions of Windows. This most likely won't happen for at least 3 more years but it will eventually happen.

    •  And it also means that there won't be any additional supported drivers written for Windows 7 to recognize new hardware advances (like larger harddrives), newer printer / scanner / copiers / etc., video / web cameras, or to interface with new devices in general.

Windows 7 will no longer receive security updates. Running it on the web is dangerous and will get more dangerous as time goes on.  Windows 10 isn't that bad so upgrade. That can still be free.

It's still operational but if you're just relying on Microsoft's security,anti-malware and firewall,I would dump both and install a real anti-virus and firewall. ZoneAlarm free firewall is reccomended, must register it. A good free anti-virus is Avast,Avira,AVG,Bitdefender,360 Total Security,Sophos Home,Kaspersky and a few others. These will continue to update the malware signatures even after support for Windows 7 has ended. Make sure you're using a secure browser along with these addons: Privacy Badger and Cookie Auto-delete.

No longer available officially but it will continue to work as long as the computer it is installed on is alive. Same thing with XP.

Windows 7 is no longer supported by Microsoft.  This means No Updates, including Security updates.

You can still use Windows 7 but at your own Risk.  Have a good Anti Virus program.

As long as you want, but Microsoft has stopped supporting it.
