Whats the best model .177 to use for hunting deer?

My local hunter-safety educator told me that a .177 is the best choice for hunting deer. He said that most game wardens will agree to this. I prefer .22 but I think .177 is good to. What is your thoughts?

Mo, the question above this one asked about hunting rabbits with a .500. This question and that one are incredibly naïve. Are you just trolling or after a Darwin Award? No .177 is good for deer.

Perhaps frogs might be more inline with your expectations!!

This should put an end to the problem.  Don't just use .177 of it, use the whole can.

Use a .177 Magnum.  Works great.

You should check your state's regulations.  I live in Indiana.  For deer hunting on private land, the minimum bullet diameter is 6 mm or .243 caliber. For deer hunting on public land, the minimum is .357 caliber.

So, both the .177 and the .22 would be illegal in Indiana.

    Do you mean squirrels?

What state do you live in? What drugs was the hunter safety guy on?

IDT it's legal in any state to hunt a deer with a .223 5.56x45. Which is significantly more powerful than an pellet airgun of either caliber
