Will my husband and I have trouble renewing our apartment lease?

We pay rent and bills on time always. Dont cause trouble.

Our lease ends in May. What should we do? Is it easy to renew? This is our first apartment

Renewals are signed either a month or up to 1 year or more prior to expiration.  At some point, you will likely be presented with one.  Perhaps, the landlord keeps people on from month to month after their lease expires - we don't know.  If a long term lease is important to you, go to him and ASK.

If the landlord agrees to renew the process is super easy. Some leases automatically renew and you don't have to even re-sign anything. If there is any kind of process involved at all it would most likely just be having to sign the new lease.

Within 30 days of the lease expiring contact the landlord and let them know you're renewing. You can do that now if you want to it doesn't have to be exactly 30 days.

Very easy to renew.  You usually don't need to make a decision until 45-60 days before the lease ends, though.

Usually it's easy when you've been a good tenant. Ask your landlord.

It will be easy for you if you pay on time, & don't cause trouble. Expect rent to raise a bit though.

You should receive a notice from the landlord 90-60 days prior to the renewal...at which point you get to decide if you still want to stay there.

If you havent been trouble, expect a renewal...but if the market is hot, expect a jump in the rent.

Typically the landlord will contact you 60 days before the lease expires, with new lease terms.

Ask your landlord about renewing the lease or renting on a month-to-month basis after May. Landlords do not want to clean and re-rent an apartment.

From what you're saying you sound like an ideal tenant. Unless there are unforeseen circumstances, you should have no problems at all in renewing your lease.
