Why did the Patriots get rid of MVP Garoppolo ?

He just lead his team to Super Bowl and Patriots lost.

He's better off traded since the guy would have been wasted on the bench. Also he is not the MVP, maybe next year but he'll have competition.

This is from bill ( the pats coach) they wanted another team to have a qb with that much talent. he didnt want jimmy's skill to go to waste being tom brady.

For the same reason that the Bears traded up to draft MVP Mitch.

     Garoppolo is not the MVP.

You think he and Brady play every position on the team? Duh.

Using your logic, Brady won four Super Bowl MVPs. How many do you think Garoppolo will win?

In any case, Garoppolo had a 74.7 rating against the Vikings. He attempted eight passes against the Packers. Those stats aren't the stats of someone who led a team in the playoffs to a conference championship.

Btw, do you have a link that says Garoppolo was the MVP of anything? That's what I thought.

He was going to be a free agent and he wasn’t going to re-sign with the patriots to be a backup so the patriots traded him to be something rather than nothing if he walks away during free agency.

They couldn't pay both Garoppolo and Brady and stay under the cap. Story is that Belichick wanted to keep Jimmy G and Robert Kraft voted for Brady.

Remember - the Pats did win last year, so it wasn't a terrible decision. But, the Pats now need a QB

Sure it is. Until now Brady always had a Powerhouse now you saw him playing with the same kind of receivers every other QB usually has to work with.

He was an unproven backup behind the greatest QB the franchise ever had.  Paying a backup big dollars, especially when there is a salary cap to deal with, made little sense for NE.
