Which person in your opinion gave worse customer service?

In your opinion who gave worse customer service between Scott or Mary?

Scott: One day at his retail job a customer goes up to Scott and asks if she could have a smaller package of pork chops, Scott told her he's sorry but he's gotta get his work done and didn't have any time to repackage anything at the moment, he also suggests that the customer should get a 6 pack of pork chops and freeze some of it, the customer told Scott that if she wanted that many that's what she would do, she then leaves feeling disappointed, Scott just casually goes oh well, Scott wasn't really sorry that he couldn't help out, he's only sorry because he doesn't want the customer to report him to the manager.

Mary: She is a waitress and there is one customer who she totally despises, while the customer tries to ignore her Mary goes out of her way to get her attention by angrily giving the customer the middle finger in front of her best friend's young child, the customer just ignores her and is aware that Mary doesn't like her, the customer then lets Mary know how she felt about what happened, Mary just cuts her off and accuses the customer of harassing her and thought the customer was being rude, then the customer tells Mary she's gonna report her to the manager, Mary just says "go ahead", unfortunately the manager tells the customer this is not the time and place to be having this discussion and could care less on how Mary treats her.

Update:

Also do both of these employees deserve to get fired for these incidents?

Scott is a lazy and unmotivated worker.

Mary is an aggressive and possibly dangerous worker.

Scott may just need re-training or a warning to accommodate a customer when possible.  Or at the very least speak to them differently.  (You never tell a customer you just don't have the time to help them)

Mary needs to be fired immediately.  She went out of her way to act abusively towards a customer, who was not looking for trouble in any way.  She did not have the self control to realize a child was present and act accordingly.  Obviously, she can't keep her personal life separate from her work life.  This is damaging to the restaurant, and may one day escalate when charges are bought against her and possibly the restaurant.

The manager gave the worst service because he was in charge of making sure things run smoothly. Mary comes in second, then Scott.

They're both appalling workers and both should be fired.

Easily Mary because she gave the customer a middle finger and acted very inappropriately towards the customer and everyone else in the restaurant

I would've definitely fired Mary in a heartbeat, as for Scott I would probably write him up if this was the first time I've gotten a complaint about him.

There's no "worse" here, these are totally different incidents.  That said, yes, both employees deserved to be fired.
