Second toilet runs after first toilet is flushed.?

Update:

Second toilet runs after first toilet is flushed for about 10 seconds. Wife says toilet also runs after shower is shut off. Any ideas as to why this happens and how to fix?

    I think i'd replace the float valve AND the flapper. $10 or $12 at lowes or HD. for a 2 part package.  About 30 minutes to change both.

    The flapper in that toilet is most likely leaking a little tiny bit of water through to the commode. As the water level in the water closet begins to lower, the sudden surge on the water line makes the refill valve begin to refill the water closet. Since it is only a small amount of water that has leaked out, it only takes a few seconds to refill. One would have to replace the flapper in the water closet to stop the refilling cycle.
