saw saukraut in the store today.Is it nice?

    SAUERKRAUT.  It's a popular food in Germany.  However, even my German wife very seldom eats it.  I think its dreadful.  Try a bit & make up your own mind.

    It's one of those foods that have to come from the right preparer or source for me.

    Everyone's tastes are different. Sauerkraut is cabbage fermented in lactic acid. The fact that the name means sour cabbage in german should tell you what it tastes like. If that sounds like you, have at it

    No, It's vile stuff..........meant to be eaten with other vile stuff to disguise the taste of the other vile thing.

    It goes great with bratwursts. The vinegar in the kraut cuts through the richness of the sausage just dandy. Bratwursts and sauerkraut with a Reisling wine are a great pairing. Have that with some rye bread and mustard on the side you'll be in heaven.
