In no particular order that I have found to be reliable:

    Sig P220

    Glock 21

    HK USP

    Walther PPQ

1911s are hit and miss.  Probably any name brand based on the Colt Model 70 is OK.

Others, such as FN, S&W M&P, Springfield Armory, and CZ may be OK as well.  Most modern name brand handguns are very reliable under most conditions.  Don't know what you mean be "extreme", googling "glock 21 torture test" might give you an idea.

I would have to say that in my view it would be my Colt Model 70 in .45 ACP.

I would more than likely choose it over my Glock.

I have a Glock 20 SF and it is awesome but the question said .45.  I do like a 10mm.
I remember when Colt came out with the Delta Elite and I wanted one very bad. Still do.
