IM IN DIRE NEED OF HELP WITH MATH IN IN 8TH GRADE?

Hi I'm in geometry here's my question

the safety rules for a playground state that the height of a slide and the distance from the base of the ladder to the front of the slide must be in a ratio of 3:5 if a slide is about 8 ft long what are the height and distance from the base of the ladder to the front of the slide?

so i know the equasion based on the pythagorean theorem is 8squared=5xsquared+3xsqaured but how to solve??????!!!!!!

    This is a right triangle problem

    the hypotenuse for a right triangle with sides for 3 and 5 is

    c² = 3² + 5²

    c² = 36

    c = 6

    The ratio is then

    3:5:6

    Corresponding sides of similar triangle have the same prorportion

    since 8 = 4/3 * 6

    The height is

    h = 3 * (4/3)

    h = 4 ft <––––

    Distance from base to front of ladder

    d = 5 * (4/3)

    d = 20/3

    d = 6 ⅔ ft <–––––
