Memory is when we use our thoughts and imagination to visualize images in our mind using the five senses. And memory is our ability to remember events which we encountered or experienced throughout our life span and put it all together.

History is an account of events which happened over the years which made a legend mark. Something to remember.

History is what happened. Memory is your recollection of that.

History is a written account of what happened.  It's more reliable than memory but not quite 100% reliable.  There is always at least a small gap between what actually happened and how we talk about it.

Memory is your personal history that you are contiously aware of. History is everything.

Memory is history that you remember and experienced in only your lifetime. History goes before you were born or remembered up to way way back when the universe was created.

History is a documented account of past events.  Memory is a personal recollection of past events.

If you document your memories, that becomes something known as a  "memoir." Memoirs are also known as "personal histories."

History requires corroboration with original source documents.  History isn't perfect, people can make mistakes and/or misconstrue the facts on purpose, but it is still much more reliable than memory.  Human memory is unreliable at best.

Memory is what's in peoples' minds, and it can be flawed or forgotten.  History is what in fact actually happened and often is documented to have happened.

Marli, no one who is not present knows what actually happened beyond the perceptions, often incomplete, inaccurate or biased, of those who bothered to record.

Memories are fickle peices of thought about a personal past experience. They can be perceived differently from one person to the next.

History, are hardcopy facts that can't be disputed. They are written or recorded without personal emotion. It can't be disputed.

    • History books touch on occurrences, purpose, and the year. I use the adage, "if it looks like a duck, acts like a duck, quacks like a duck, it's a duck".
