    Why would the US need a small cold windswept island in a very isolated area??  It might be different if it was off the coast of Europe Or in Asia.  But 1000's of miles from nowhere (in the S Atlantic), not a chance.  I suspect the UK would love to unload it.

    The UK is in a better financial position than the USA is, And we wouldn't trust the USA not to disturb the penguins.  Meanwhile, Parliament doesn't deal with detailed finances.  They'd need to talk to Rishi Sunak.
