Why is religion dying amongst young people?

Faith in God is not dying among all young people, but what we see among people in general is a fulfillment of Bible prophecy:
2 Timothy 3:1-5
"But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, DISOBEDIENT TO PARENTS, unthankful, disloyal,
3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, LOVERS OF PLEASURES RATHER THAN LOVERS OF GOD,
5 HAVING AN APPEARANCE OF GODLINESS BUT PROVING FALSE TO ITS POWER; and from these turn away."
I put the relevant phrases in capital letters to demonstrate what is happening to many young people recently. Part of it is the exposure that they have available in entertainment, that glorifies irresponsible behavior including sexual immorality, dishonesty, glorifying violence, and presenting murder, stealing, drug abuse, gang violence, as well as other bad practices as normal adult activities.
Another part of it is because we live in an economy where most of the time, both parents have to work full time to house, feed and clothe a family, parents often have difficulty with modeling and teaching their children about God and morality. The internet, including all of its dark side, becomes the teacher of many children.
A third point is that the verses above in 2 Timothy are also a prophecy concerning what would happen during the last days. More than any other time in history, these words are becoming true - in a world of almost 8 billion people with internationally available entertainment, lawlessness, and selfish attitudes.
Still, children need to be taught from infancy what God expects from them, plus, parents need to regularly and consistently set the example, in their own behavior and words, for them. This becomes a barrier of protection and security for them - a rock on which to build their house, which the wind and rain cannot destroy. Matthew 7:24-27 Deuteronomy 6:4-7

It is because young people have lost their sense of enquiry.

There are several factors: increased connections with people of differing belief systems because of the internet, frustration with the rigidity, and some may say bigotry, of many religious leaders, the sense that religion, as currently practiced, has little to no relevance to their daily lives, and being turned off by the "weaponization" of religion in many political circles.

Because the things that were provided by religion like brining together communities, charity, education etc are provided in other ways. Also the world is a lot more globalised so people are open or influenced by new ideas or ways of living their lives than if their existence revolved around around their local communities and nationalities. I think a major reason is that religion has simply become something that is not trendy and extremely religious people are often presented as crazy, evil, stupid or boring in the media and entertainment industry.

The young people are learning more than years ago. There are many sources for information than ever before. That makes them smarter than most of the parents, and certainly smarter than their grandparents or great-grandparents.

They want to have sex outside of marriage. It is a real buzzkill to think you are doomed to never marry or have sex.During the times of Mary and Joseph they married at 13 or younger. That means they don't have to finish college or Bible school and get a job and hope they can last that long without sexual contact. Hyper sexual media content keeps everyone revved up sexuality . Access to pornography is another huge challenge for parents trying to mediate their kid's teen years. This longer time of maturation seems cruel and unnatural because it kind of is.
There is usually a cooling toward religion because it is not a relationship with God but sometimes just a ritual. Many return in their thirties with children. If you get old, you notice this stuff.

The young people of my Church meet frequently to pray together, listen to Christian teaching by guest speakers, and participate in several different social outreach ministries.

NO "PROOF" that there is a GOD due to the belief of today's Christians in a powerless water baptism (Matthew 28:19) vs Holy Spirit baptism (Acts 1:5) Who gives "POWER" (Acts 1:8) that is a Christian's PROOF!

Because most religions were tailored to an agrarian, parochial, and stable population. Society has changed and it (religion) has become much less useful to a (our) technological, cosmopolitan, and mobile population.
