Is there a way to ban hyperlinks from an Excel file?

Every few months, I have to spend many hours finding and eliminating invisible hyperlinks in Excel files.

Sometimes I find some even right after I have spent hours eliminating them.

One time, a file went from 400K to 4.1M when I just added one row from another file...thousands of invisible hyperlinks came with it somehow.

So I'd like to find a way to set something that doesn't allow any hyperlinks in a file.

...I'd also like to learn how to find and eliminated them in bulk, not one cell at a time.

You can both turn off the Autocorrect for Hyperlinks and use VBA code to prevent them at the Worksheet level.

This is the best description of how both of these work.

See if this helps you to get it going.

Stop importing unknown data and you won't have that problem.

The is a setting (tic box) in Excel Options  >  Auto Correct >   NOT to install hyperlinks.

    • I'm not finding any mention of hyperlinks either in Autocorrect or Options (which are separate in the version I'm using).

I've looked at all the options in all the menus at the top. ?.
