Should I use a strapped or strapless mouthguard for hockey?

It’s my first year playing hockey (ice) and I’m not sure which one to use. We are require to have mouthguards. I feel like strapless ones are smaller, but I feel like a strapped one is easier to take in and out during practice and games

Unless you're used to wearing a strapless mouthguard, go with one strapped to your face shield/birdcage. If you're not used to it, then it's easy for it to fall on the ice. Plus, if you haven't worn a mouth guard it's going to be uncomfortable.
