can I add a capacitor to my electric motor shoe polisher to run faster? it runs on 110V. Thank you?

    Yes you can.  It will not run faster.

    A capacitor does not increase the voltage. To an electric motor a capacitor is added to store up some amperage so that when you flip the switch it has enough power to turn the motor over and get it spinning.

    No, what a strange idea. It will do nothing when connected in parallel. In series it will slow the motor down.
